Have you discovered the Map of Consciousness yet? If not, perhaps now is the time!
Let’s delve into the profound journey of emotional healing through the lens of the Map of Consciousness. Imagine this map as a guide leading you through the terrain of your emotions towards higher states of consciousness.
The Map of Consciousness as a tool that categorises emotions and levels of consciousness, and provides us with a framework for understanding and transcending negative emotional states.
The emotional healing journey can often feel overwhelming. If we’re not struggling with our emotions running amok, then we’re wondering if all the effort we’re putting in is actually getting us anywhere.
Has the inner work, worked? Well, has it?? Where exactly am I on my emotional healing journey? A common question I’m sure!
Is This the Answer to “Where am I on my Emotional Healing Journey?”
Often, our only way of getting an answer to that question is try to muster up enough self-awareness to try and see if anything has changed: are you behaving, thinking or feeling differently?
The big clues can be found in your life and in your reality. If things are improving – life is better, you’re feeling better – then the chances are the inner work IS working. But that might not always be the case.
Perhaps you’re feeling better because you’ve just splashed out on something, or you had a great week. But will this feeling stick? Is this the new you?
How do we REALLY know we’ve changed?
It’s a fair question. How do we really know if we’re getting closer to that place called happiness, bliss and joy?
This is what can feel a little frustrating at times. You’re still getting triggered. You’re still stressed. Maybe a little less than before. But is it because of your inner work?
How can we tell?
Wouldn’t it be great if you could just grab a measuring device and take a reading? Just like a thermometer!
Let’s say you’ve just come back from a meditation retreat. Now what if you could compare a reading from last month when you were feeling pretty down and rubbish, to today, now that you’re feeling more grounded and positive after a great week
Wouldn’t it be great to know if the meditation retreat had really made a difference? A lasting difference.
What if I told you that you CAN do this?
The measuring device is the Map of Consciousness, a tool developed by Dr David Hawkins.
The Map of Consciousness, by Dr David Hawkins.
Since discovering the David Hawkins’ Map of Consciousness late last year, I’ve been working very closely with it and have integrated it into many aspects of my work. It has proven to be such an invaluable tool in guiding my personal emotional healing journey, that I started incorporating it into my client work.
What really surprised me was that when I used it as my guiding star for the emotional healing journey, the emotional healing taking place made extraordinary leaps.
This is why I’m really excited to share this with you, because I think that it is something we can all use to help guide our emotional healing journey.
Let me share a bit of a background as to what it is, so that you can start to understand the role it can play in your emotional healing.
What is the Map of Consciousness?
The Map of Consciousness is a tool created by David Hawkins to categorise and measure human consciousness on a scale from 0 to 1000. It provides a visual representation of emotional states, with higher levels corresponding to positive, uplifting emotions (e.g., peace, love), while lower levels relate to negative emotions (e.g., fear, guilt, shame). Think of it as a ladder you can climb to improve your emotional well-being.
In his Map of Consciousness, Dr Hawkins claims to have outlined the entire spectrum of human experience and believes that it can help us to align ourselves for our greatest happiness and ultimate freedom.
This is what my aim is too, so I was excited to discover this correlation with the work we do here at Head Trash. For me, the ultimate objective or result of clearing head trash is being happy, and having freedom, choice and flexibility in your thoughts and behaviours.
Dr Hawkins states that “every person is born with a calibratable level of consciousness, which is an energy field within the infinite field of consciousness.” and he goes on to say that “everything in the universe constantly gives off an energy pattern of a specific frequency that remains for all time [which means] that we now have a means by which to calibrate energy fields as to their relative strength.”
In other words, we can measure the energetic frequency of various patterns of consciousness, at various moments in time.
In practical terms this means we can now take a measurement – or a calibration – of people, ideas, books etc and find out where they appear on this scale of consciousness.
Key Levels of Consciousness:
- Shame (20): The lowest state, associated with feelings of worthlessness.
- Guilt (30): Often rooted in regret, leading to self-blame.
- Fear (100): A significant obstacle to emotional healing.
- Courage (200): The turning point, where you begin to take control of your emotions.
- Love (500): A powerful emotional state of acceptance and kindness.
- Peace (600): A state of inner calm and profound emotional freedom.
I love the fact that this has a numerical element. My background in business means that I am a bit of numbers geek and like to be able to measure the impact of what I do, using numbers preferably! We all know where we stand with numbers.
How the Map of Consciousness measures levels of consciousness
In his book Map of Consciousness Explained, Dr Hawkins states the following:
“The technique we use for consciousness calibration is the living clinical science of muscle testing, which utilizes the human nervous system and the energy of life as expressed through the acupuncture energy system as the requisite sensitive biological measuring instrument. (The technique cannot be duplicated by nonliving scientific instruments.)”
This is kinesiology, and is a technique you may have come across if you’ve been for allergy testing, for example. A kinesiology practitioner will ask you to put out your arm to the side, and they will apply a downward pressure on your arm while you resist. Where a substance weakens your body, your arm will go weak (and not be able to resist). And, if something is good for you, then your arm will remain strong.
Below you can watch Dr David Hawkins demonstrate this methodology.
When I first found out about this technique, it blew my mind.
I’ve been using it for the last 15 years in lots of different ways;
- to test food in my fridge that’s gone past its use-by date and find out whether it’s safe to eat (the family has not been poisoned yet!)
- to decide which beauty products to buy and whether or not they will irritate my skin
- when I’m doing all my emotional healing work – does XXXX within me/my clients need healing?
Where I’ve been using it to understand WEAK versus STRONG, Dr Hawkins explains how it can also be used to ascertain TRUTH versus FALSEHOOD;
“In the presence of truth, the body’s musculature goes “strong.” In contrast, it goes “weak” when confronted with falsehood (which is the absence of truth, not its opposite). This is a rapid response that quickly reveals the degree of truth of anything. Integrity of intention is required to conduct the test accurately.”
Use Kinesiology to Guide Your Emotional Healing
This means that we can use the Map of Consciousness to guide us on our emotional healing journey, and we can see where we are on that journey by taking a reading at a particular moment in time.
Dr Hawkins tells us that
“The Map of Consciousness is a reference guide to the spectrum of consciousness, charting the calibrated levels of energy, similar to how a thermometer measures levels of heat, a barometer measures levels of atmospheric pressure, and an altimeter measures levels of elevation.
The measurements are not based on personal opinion or relativistic perception. Because they are stationary, they form an absolute scale. Anything can be calibrated and placed somewhere along the scale as a number. The number is not a judgment or a moral statement; it simply indicates the gradient of whatever is being measured. One important statement about the infinite field of consciousness is that it represents the Absolute relative to which all else can be calibrated by degrees. Calibrations do not establish truth; they merely confirm it.”
The very idea that I could take a measurement of where I was in terms of consciousness got me very excited indeed. Finally I could put some numbers into the picture. Maybe even a chart!!
The Map of Consciousness Meets the Ladder of Healing
The more I learned about the Map of Consciousness, the more I realised how closely aligned it was with my own experience of healing, myself and others, using Head Trash Clearance.
The various levels on the Map correlated with the various stages of what I referred to in my book Clear Your Head Trash the “Head Trash Clearance journey”.
In other words, using Head Trash Clearance for emotional healing helps you to move up the Map of Consciousness. Since discovering the Map of Consciousness, I have doubled down on this, and it’s now known as the Head Trash Ladder of Healing.
Here is a breakdown of the various levels on the Ladder of Healing. I use an alternative measurement which I call Moxie. Moxie speaks to resilience and mental strength, something that improves the more that you heal.

How I’ve been using the map of consciousness on my emotional healing journey
The first thing I did was take readings at different times in my life. I was really interested to find out how my consciousness had changed over time;
- when did it go up or down?
- could I observe a correlation between things that I did and my level of consciousness?
- was there a link between things that happened to me in my life and my level of consciousness?
And based on all that, could I identify things that had a real impact on my level of consciousness?
And, if there was, could I double-down on those things?
The time I revisited a pivotal time in my life through the Map of Consciousness
My first exploration was to revisit a pivotal time in my life where was faced with overwhelming fear and terror. It was this fear and terror that forced me to the healing table. I had to heal because where I was was untenable.
This was the moment that I found I was pregnant and realised that I had a phobia of pregnancy and birth. This hit me real hard. But i knew that this was something I absolutely had to heal, because otherwise how would I cope with the birth? And how could I become a mother?
Revisiting this period in my life through the lens of the Map of Consciousness was super-interesting.
And if you’re a nerd like me, you’ll love the graph showing how I moved through the various levels of the Map based on what I was experiencing and what healing I was doing.
READ THE BLOG: How healing shifted my level of consciousness
Taking a closer look at a chapter of my life like this was illuminating and fuelled my curiosity.
Was it just me who changed like this?
It’s all very well looking at my personal trajectory, but I also wanted to know how my clients were doing.
I use Head Trash Clearance with my clients and I was curious to see if their use of it was helping them to rise on the Map of Consciousness too.
So I decided to take a look a handful of my clients to see what kind of shifts they were experiencing purely in terms of the Map of Consciousness. This meant taking lots of readings. Numerical readings… which I like! We all know where we stand with a number!
I decided to take BEFORE and AFTER readings as a starting point.
Here’s what I discovered…
All my clients experienced significant jumps in their levels of consciousness according to Dr. David Hawkins’ Map, at least 100+ points increase. Which is crazy, right?
Dr. David Hawkins says in his book Map of Consciousness that it’s unlikely that most people will shift more than 5 points in a lifetime ????.
This increase varies as you would imagine. Reasons for the variations include;
- Different length programs: I have some one-month programs and some 3-6 month programs.
- Different starting points: I work mainly with two groups of people; those suffering with tokophobia (phobia of pregnancy and birth) and business leaders. Emotionally they tend to be in very different places. The tokophobia sufferers tend to also be struggling with things like anxiety and depression as well, whereas the business people tend not to. This means that the tokophobia sufferers are generally lower on the map, whereas the business leaders tend to be higher on the map.
- Different intensity of work: Some people dive in when we work together and compliment our work together with lots and lots of personal self-healing (directed by me). Whereas others don’t do as much.
- Healing different things: Due to varying nature of what people come to me for healing, we focus our healing efforts on different things. If a business leader wants to reduce their self-sabotage or get rid of their sales blocks, the healing work will be different compared to someone who wants to lose a phobia that is rooted in trauma.
As a first step on my journey of exploration this was fascinating to me. And I was intrigued. I was onto something here. So I decided to go back to other chapters in my life where there was some life challenge followed by a focus on healing so see what else I could learn.
What else did I learn?
I found that healing different things had a different impact on my consciousness. The thing that brought about the biggest jump in my level of consciousness was healing traumas and wounds.
When I was developing my trauma and wound healing process I tested it on myself relentlessly. And during this period of around 3-4 months, I jumped by around 200 points. That’s a lot!
Yes, I had dived quite a bit because of my life going to shit around that time, so some of this rise was bringing back to where I was. But most of this rise (150+) was taking me to a whole new level. And I could tell. I felt transformed after that period of deep healing.
I wondered what would happen if I approached my healing with the sole objective of raising consciousness. What would that look like? I suspected it would involve a lot of wound healing.
What if your healing objective is to raise consciousness?
So I developed a 3 month programme specifically for those who wanted exactly that; to raise their consciousness. I filled this beta programme very quickly and was soon on another learning journey.
Well, every single client increased by more than 200 points during that 3-month period.
What was interesting to me was that even though our focus was to increase consciousness, my client’s lives had changed in areas where they would have come to me for coaching or healing.
One client was able to get a high level of clarity over the new positioning and messaging for her business. We both agreed that had we been working on this in one of my business and marketing programmes, we probably wouldn’t have done such a great job. Why? Because our heads and egos would have leading the way! By healing, it was her intuition that lead the way. And her intuition knows much more about what’s best for my client than either my head or her ego.
So even though we weren’t focused on those aspects of my client’s lives that they wanted and were seeking help for. The deep healing we did together brought about rapid and remarkable change in those areas. It was like the healing removed the things that were preventing them from living aligned lives.
Once the head trash was out the way, they bounced into their groove with all the momentum they needed. Like a restless horse waiting to start a race, once the gate is opened, they are off and nothing is holding them back.
This confirmed for me the importance of healing your hidden wounds and traumas. So I decided to do some more testing.
So I created a 14-day group Healing Experience. I provided everyone in the group my whole range of inner child wound healings, and they also had access to my self-healing membership, The Clearance Club. People were free to heal whatever they wanted but I encouraged them to try out the wound healing activations.
Given this was a group experience and that everyone was doing all the healing themselves, I was not expecting miracles. Many people were new to Head Trash Clearance so they were figuring things out. Also, it was only 14-days! So my expectations were low in terms of seeing a change in levels of consciousness.
How wrong was I??
During the 14-days here are some of the changes that took place
- a third of the group increased by over 90 points, with some achieving over 150+ points increases!
- the minimum increase during that time was an increase of 40+ points.
This was incredible! But what does this mean REALLY?
Well here are a few comments from those who took part.
“Feeling amazing, empowered, loving getting rid of all the rubbish that’s been with me for years.”
“I feel so different!!”
“I’m trained in so many things, NLP, Time-Line, Hypnosis, BLAST, EMDR, EFT, TLT etc etc etc and none of them produced the results I’m getting with Head Trash. Thank you Alexia.”
“I felt like the offer of clearing my wounds and ancestral narratives around Receiving was the prompt I needed to open the gate to all the next clearings on my list. I am feeling amazing, lighter weight – the energy around me is buoyant and clear.
I am filled with gratitude”
“People are looking at me differently, I swear. It’s so strange”
“It’s fascinating, intriguing and feels right. I have been in deep need of doing my own healing work after so many years of being there for others.”
“I did the lazy clearance alongside Alexia. I had the most deepest sleep, struggled to get up to do the school run! Tried this morning to think of my husband not clearing his crap and the normal stress feeling I have when I think of this has certainly reduced.”
This was all from a 14-day experience! How incredible is that?!
And guess what?
Those who had the biggest jumps and personal sense of transformation were those who binged on the Wound Healing Activations. So this has inspired me to record a lot more of these as they clearly work, and work brilliantly.

How to Use the Map for Emotional Healing
I realise I’ve shared a lot with you here, so let me break this down for you.
STEP 1
The first thing I’d recommend you do is find out where you are on the Map of Consciousness. The Map closely aligns with my own way of looking at the healing journey: The Ladder of Healing.
I’ve created a quiz to help you to identify where you are on the ladder, so that might be a good place to start. Then you know your starting point.
STEP 2
Decide to start your healing. I have many many things to help you. You can buy a healing product, join my healing community, the Clearance Club, or we can work together.
If you do the quiz, you’ll receive a PDF which helps you to identify where to start with your healing.
STEP 3
Take consistent healing action. Even if it’s just healing ONE thing a week, that’s good. Deciding to heal one thing a day is the kind of action that will transform your life. Like a Clearance Club member who self-healed her crippling depression and her tokophobia (phobia of birth) in TWO MONTHS!.
This continues to be an exploration for me and I will share more as I continue to uncover things. But what I will say at this stage is that I’ve figured out those things that have an impact and I AM doubling down on those things.
Stay tuned for more on this.
Was this helpful for you on your emotional healing journey?
Let me know in the comments. I’d love to know.
