The head trash cycle will help you to understand where head trash comes from. And if you have a better understanding as to where it comes from then you will have a much better chance of regaining control over it and showing it the door.
The thing about head trash is that we’re too often told as to WHY we have it.. it’s our parents, our early life as kids, it’s the way that teachers treated us at school…. blah blah blah. But understanding WHY it’s there doesn’t help anyone and doesn’t actually help you to get rid of it. Unless you’re one of those people who likes to go over old ground and wallow in your own swamp of negativity. But I’m not one of those. If I get caught within whiffing distance of a swamp of negativity I prefer to get rid of the swamp than to make it my home.
So I abandoned ideas of trying to figure out the WHY and instead I thought about it from a different perspective. A perspective that I hope will help you to get to grips with it in a helpful head-sorting way (as opposed to a swamp-wallowing way).
I decided to give this new perspective a name, the head trash cycle, and then one thing led to another and next thing you know it took on a life of its own. I started sharing the head trash cycle on my training courses and people would come up to me afterwards saying how much it helped them. So, I thought it was time to share it!
